We don't even know if the next Call of Duty title is really going to be subtitled "Vanguard" and we're already seeing more leaks about a new Warzone map? Here's the latest.

LATEST - New POI Names Leaked

Recently, the COD Community got wind of a new Warzone map in the works that will supposedly tie into the upcoming "COD 2021" title.

Now, ZestyCODLeaks is sharing the work of "Glitchy" and it makes for an interesting read. According to them, these are the following names of all the new POI locations on the upcoming WW2-themed Warzone map allegedly set on a set of Pacific Islands.

  • Airstrip;
  • Arsenal;
  • Beachhead;
  • Caldera;
  • Capital;
  • Docks;
  • Farms;
  • Lagoon;
  • Mines;
  • Resort;
  • Radio Station;
  • Sub Pen;
  • Village;

They're all certainly things you would find on a Pacific Island, more or less, and they're allegedly all part of the same set of files. Do you think they're legit?

WW2-Themed Warzone Map?

In a similar way to how Warzone has adopted the 1980s stylings and equipment of Black Ops Cold War, eventually, fans are expecting to see the newest Call of Duty title to tie into Warzone.

For a while now, we've seen rumours that the next full Call of Duty title is going to be a WW2-based game, called Call of Duty: Vanguard", and now it looks like new details about how this eventual Warzone tie-in will work have been hinted at by leakers.

PACIFIC ISLANDS? - Do you think this is the right "Theatre of War" to choose for a Warzone map?

According to VGC, Call of Duty is going to skip any E3 2021 appearances and instead continue to work hard developing Call of Duty: Vanguard and its' Warzone crossover.

Sledgehammer Games plans to introduce a Warzone map set in the Pacific Theatre of the Second World War and it's due to be the largest map to date. There's also going to be new vehicles to facilitate movement around the larger map and technological updates to bring Warzone onto the same engine as the new Call of Duty game.

This could mean a next-gen version of Warzone is on the way, but only time will tell.

When Does It Come Out?

At the moment, we don't know when Warzone is going to get this new WW2 Map. As you can imagine, that's because we don't really know when Call of Duty: Vanguard is coming out yet.

We can offer a very rough estimate though. We think Call of Duty: Vanguard and the new Warzone WW2 map are going to release in the first week of December.

If you're going to be giving Warzone a new map, you'd want to do that at the start of a season. Each Warzone season currently lasts around three months.

NEW PRICE SKIN? - Arguably, this would be the best Warzone appearance we've ever seen

Three months from the end of Season 3 is only mid-September, which seems far too early for an unannounced Call of Duty title to launch. Therefore, we think we'll be seeing a new Warzone WW2 map at the end of Season 5 and/or the start of Season 6.

It's a long way away, but it would also make sense to see Call of Duty: Vanguard receive a later-than-expected release date given the fact that rumoured announcements dates appear to have been and gone. E3 2021 would be the perfect place to announce a new Call of Duty title if it was coming out any earlier, too.

Keeping Warzone Up To Date

It looks like the next Call of Duty title could finally be when Warzone players see their game get a much-needed update. Visually, Warzone is lagging behind in comparison to Black Ops Cold War and looking at the Operators as you switch between the two highlights the glaring difference in quality between Cold War assets in Warzone and Cold War assets in Black Ops Cold War.

Not only this, but reports are showing that Warzone's technology will be updated to match that of the main Call of Duty release again. We've already heard rumours that Call of Duty: Vanguard will be running on an improved version of Modern Warfare's game engine but this is a welcome corroboration of that rumour.

BUT IT DOESN'T LOOK BAD? - They never do in official screenshots, but the difference between Warzone and BOCW is glaring

Warzone is also due to a next-gen update, right? Fortnite and Destiny 2 both received a next-gen version not long after the new consoles released; Call of Duty players think its' their turn. Could Call of Duty: Vanguard's release be a catalyst for this change?
