Release Time & Mule Kick Tiers Confirmed

Treyarch has shared their Black Ops Cold War Season 4 Reloaded Patch Notes and there's a couple of important things worth noting.

Firstly, Mauer Der Toten is going to be available from 21:00 PST (July 14) / 00:00 EST / 05:00 BST on July 15th. This is thirteen hours before the Main Quest goes live at 10:00 PST / 13:00 EST / 18:00 BST.

Secondly, we now know what Mule Kick is going to do when you upgrade it! Every Perk-A-Cola in Black Ops Cold War's Zombies has five Skill Tiers and here's what Mule Kick has to offer:

  • Base ability: Carry a third primary weapon.
  • Skill Tier I: Crafted Equipment grants additional Equipment if able.
  • Skill Tier II: All enemies have a small chance to drop ammo.
  • Skill Tier III: Stowed weapons slowly refill ammo from stock.
  • Skill Tier IV: 25% chance to keep non-retrievable Equipment when used.
  • Skill Tier V: Third primary weapon is recovered when repurchasing Mule Kick.

If Skill Tier V works after death, this could be huge for getting back into the game.

First Minute Of Gameplay Revealed

Okay, we were expecting the new Gameplay Trailer to offer us a bit more in terms of actual content... But, a minute isn't so bad? We'd hardly consider that a trailer though. Still, Treyarch has offered us our first look at Mauer Der Toten and it looks INSANE.

There's new Special and/or Elite Weapons, we got to see the Wonder Weapon in action, and it looks like there's going to be quite a few open spaces in this next Black Ops Cold War Zombies experience. You can check it all out below:

Oh, and the Mule Kick perk machine has a bunch of guns on it. How awesome is that?

Fresh Look At The New Wonder Weapon?

Once again, Treyarch has dropped a teaser with little-to-no context and left all of us wondering what the hell they have up their sleeves. This time around, it looks like Treyarch has revealed the new Mauer Der Toten Wonder Weapon with a blueprint. They did the same with Firebase Z's R.A.I. K-84, so we're pretty confident.

As you can see below, it looks like the new Wonder Weapon is going to have a modular feature that offers up a number of different variations on the base weapon. This is somewhat similar to how the D.I.E. Machine has different Ammo Modifications that alter how it fires.

We don't know for sure what the new Wonder Weapon is called, but we're expecting to find out more in the coming days.

Update Download Size Leaked

According to PlaystationSize, the next major update for Black Ops Cold War (which will include Mauer Der Toten) isn't going to be as big as we all thought it would be.

On PS4 and Xbox One, it's expected to be around 14GB and will increase the overall size of the game by around 8GB. On PS5 and Xbox Series X, it should only be around 8GB and will reportedly reduce the overall size of Black Ops Cold War by 18GB!

This update isn't just adding the Mauer Der Toten map, though. There's a lot more content on the way. Two new weapons are still expected to drop, there's a new multiplayer map coming, and a whole lot more. Season 4 is only at the halfway point; Treyarch isn't going to slow down now.

When Is The New Map Coming Out?

At the moment, we don't know for sure when we're going to see Mauer Der Toten grace our screens. All we know is that it's due to be "arriving mid-season". Black Ops Cold War's Season 4 Reloaded update is still a little while away, though, and we're expecting this to drop prior to that.

With this in mind, there's a new leak that suggests Mauer Der Toten is going to drop on July 15th.

This doesn't seem too unbelievable when you consider the fact that the teasers from Treyarch have already started and we're due to get "more Mauer Der Toten intel" soon.

Latest Teasers From Treyarch

At the moment, Treyarch has just shared a few cryptic teasers for Mauer Der Toten that all start to explain the narrative side of things. It's interesting but doesn't offer us much in the way of information about the map itself, the Wonder Weapon, and all the other details we're hungry for.

You can see the leaks in chronological order below:

Everything Else We Know

At the moment, that's pretty much all we know about Mauer Der Toten. Here's what Treyarch had to say in the Call of Duty Season 4 Roadmap Blog Post they shared a couple of weeks ago...

" Fans of “Die Maschine,” “Firebase Z,” and other classic round-based Zombies experiences will be welcomed home in “Mauer der Toten,” the next chapter in the Black Ops Cold War Zombies coming mid-season.
" Taking place after the events of “Operation Excision” in Outbreak, the Dark Aether story will continue in Treyarch’s next Zombies map, where players will take on new terrors in war-torn East Berlin after a devastating zombie invasion has overtaken the city.
" The Zombies team is chomping at the bit to share more about this new experience soon, but for now, expect “Mauer der Toten” to offer plenty of new twists, turns, and terrifying undead threats for players to conquer."

We know, it isn't exactly a lot to go on... We expect to hear more soon.
