Call of Duty's Battle Royale is a certified hit! However, do you need Xbox Live if you want to play Warzone?
Call of Duty: Warzone has been out for almost a year now and, as a free-to-play title, it's a fair question to ask.
Below, we've got everything you need to know about the current state of Xbox Live subscriptions and whether they are needed for free-to-play games like Warzone.
Do You Need Xbox Live?
At the moment, yes.
An active Xbox Live subscription is currently required to play any online multiplayer title, free-to-play titles like Warzone included.
Recently, Xbox made the announcement that they were going to increase the price of their Xbox Live service.
However, following an intense backlash, they retracted their statement and offered the following tweet:
This means that eventually free-to-play games and Warzone will be available regardless of whether you have an active subscription or not.
However, that isn't ready quite yet.
You Do Need An Xbox Account Either Way
Thankfully, this is not the end of the world and the console itself prompts users to make/add a Microsoft account to the console.
Why do you need one though?
Well, in order to "Purchase" and download Warzone you need to add it to your account's library.
