Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War hasn't even been released yet, and speculation has also started about what to expect next year from the series.
The next title in the blockbuster franchise is set to launch on November 13th on current-gen, next-gen consoles, and PC.
So far there has been a total of 17 Call Of Duty games released, with both the Modern Warfare and Black Ops series' releasing the most titles.
Taking A Backseat
It seems that both Sledgehammer Games, and Raven Software will be taking a backseat for the next title.
Sledgehammer Games are responsible for games such as Advanced Warfare, and WWII.

While Raven Software is known for collaborating with Treyarch on Black Ops Cold War, as well as developing Modern Warfare Remastered.
This move would mean that Infinity Ward has a 2 year development cycle, rather than 3, for their next Call Of Duty title.
Modern Warfare 2021
2019's Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare was a huge success, after a fairly lacklustre bunch of games in recent years, it was a breath of fresh air and breathed new life into the series.
Modern Warfare was also home to the launch of Warzone, the popular Call Of Duty Battle Royale game that will continue once Black Ops Cold War is released.
Warzone has already attracted over 75 million players and has become a huge money maker for Activision.
The success of Warzone could be the reason why Activision want Infinity Ward to be the studio to work on the 2021 Call Of Duty game.
The Future Of Warzone
Call Of Duty Warzone is currently in its 6th season, and is the only Battle Royale that has been able to take a large portion of the player base from games such as Fortnite, and keep them playing Warzone.
With the success of the mode it is unclear on the future of the game.
Activision are known from just going in a completely different direction, especially when it comes to a new development cycle.
Warzone will see integration with Black Ops Cold War, but things are unsure whether a new Modern Warfare game could mean a new iteration of Warzone.
Right now the game has a player base of over 75 million and is generating a lot of revenue for the company, so the mode should be safe at least for the time being.
