Call of Duty Modern Warfare: Two classic maps return & new game mode debuts in massive update
A welcome Christmas present from Activision as new game modes & missions hit COD:MW!
The first update to Call of Duty Modern Warfare’s Season 1 is already here. Two weeks after it launched the first set of tweaks are due to land.
Activision has given the lowdown on what new modes and maps will be launching in the December 18 patch, which is being described as a Season 1 refresh.
Due to announcements of new store content, it is expected that the new COD download will be available at around 6pm GMT (for UK gamers) and 10am PT (for US Gamers).
Season 1 Refresh Is Here
We expect to see the return of 2 fan favourite maps;
- Shipment – the classic map from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is one of the smallest ever – even smaller than shoot house. This will encompass the classic 6v6 modes and Gunfight.
- Vacant – also from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare that is also pretty small and will have classic 6v6
Both these are a reaction to the success of Shoot House and the fact lots of players enjoy the fast-paced, action-filled fun of a smaller map, with less opportunity for sniping.
New Game mode
There have been a few new game modes come in and out of this version of COD. Whether you’ve enjoyed Infected or Gunfight, the best thing about modern gaming is they can adjust based on demand and keep things fresh.
The new mode being debuted will be called Cranked. Cranked is another fast-paced version of Deathmatch where players race to get kills or suffer a suicidal explosion. Just like its namesake film.
There are a bundle of other small edits expected in this update;
- New Co-Op missions
- Double Weapon XP weekend from December 20 at 10am PST to December 23 at 10am PST.
- New Operator – Nikto
- New bundles in the store
There are rumors of further remakes of old maps coming over the holiday period, so keep checking in with us for more updates.
The Battle Pass is here, including 100 Tiers of content, from XP, COD points, Weapon Blueprints, Operator Skins and more.
However, going from Tier 1 to 100 is a time-consuming task, unless you purchase with real cash.
RealSport has the top tips on how to scale these Tiers quicker than imaginable. You can find everything you need to know here.
