Each respective Tweet showed off the game’s logo with the official Call of Duty Twitter account having it in video form that includes some indistinct chatter, along with lines feigning some sort of map. Additionally, it provides 16 seconds worth of audio with the first half of it being muffled.

The logo itself shows the iconic Modern Warfare letters with a “II” distinctively placed in between both of them to signify a sequel to the Modern Warfare title from 2019.

Modern Warfare 2 was talked about earlier this year via Activision’s 2022 first-quarter financial results. Here, the company stated that it’ll be the “most advanced” Call of Duty game yet.

With the theme of a “new era” for Call of Duty in mind, the franchise will return to one of its beloved titles, Modern Warfare.

This Modern Warfare title will have its story focusing on Colombian drug cartels and according to a report from Video Games Chronicle, will be “a grittier take on Modern Warfare 2019’s campaign,” with more of a focus on close-quarters combat alongside the tried and true Call of Duty feel.

Alongside Modern Warfare 2 will also be a new Warzone game that was also confirmed in Activision’s Q1 2022 financial results and will be revealed later this year. However, additional information on a possible new Warzone game is still unknown as the developers have yet to reveal any new information.
