Activision has unveiled Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War's Zombies Onslaught mode, which is confirmed to be a timed PlayStation exclusive, that won't be heading to other platforms for a whole year.
What is Zombies Onslaught?
Zombies Onslaught is a two player co-op experience, which is completely separate to this year's main Zombies narrative - Die Maschine.
Players are confined to a limited "orb" area ("Dark Aether damage" is inflicted if they stray outside) and zombies will begin to enter, wave after wave.
Once a sufficient number have been eliminated, the orb, and the habitable area, will move - and as each game progresses, waves will introduce more "resilient, faster and deadlier" zombies, including powerful Elite enemies.
The ultimate goal is to stay alive, whilst racking up as many points as possible by continuing to pick off Elites.
Bronze, Silver, or Gold rankings are awarded based on the number of Elites killed, and these, in turn, will enable players to unlock rewards for use across the entire game.
Zombies Onslaught Official Trailer
PlayStation's YouTube account has released the official trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's Zombies Onslaught.
As you can see from the Trailer, Zombies Onslaught takes place across several locations based off the game’s Multiplayer maps.
You’ll be able to take your own custom loadouts into the level, with the two of you then confined to a specific area by a Dark Aether Orb until you’ve killed a certain number of zombies and it moves.
Zombies Onslaught exclusive to PlayStation
Activision, working alongside Sony, has elected to make this part of the overall Cold War experience exclusive only to PS4 and PS5.
Zombies Onslaught will be available to PlayStation users for an entire year before it becomes available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC on 1st November 2021.
