Release Date & Start Time
Black Ops Cold War Season 3 will end June 15, and Season 4 will then kick off on Thursday, June 17!
We don't have an exact start time just yet, but keep up to date on all of the latest news as it arrives here.
Season 4's New Operators?
We're going to go out on a bit of a limb here and say that we think Alex Mason is going to be added to Black Ops Cold War in Season 4 as the new Operator.
Adler is being tortured and Hudson is bringing everyone in to help rescue him from Stitch in Verdansk. Surely that would include Mason too, right? He's the only main cast member from the Black Ops series we still haven't seen in-game. Okay, we're also missing Lazar from Black Ops Cold War's campaign but... Let's be honest, everyone wants to see Mason more.
There's also a lot of talk of "Numbers" and we all know how Mason feels about those...
Of course, we won't know for sure what's in-store until we get closer to the release date. However, we can still speculate.
New Multiplayer Maps
This is anyone's guess, really. Black Ops, as a series, has a plethora of maps that it could bring back to the series in one way or another and there's also the possibility of completely original maps.
Call of Duty leaker WarzoneNewz has suggested that there could be a total of six new maps coming to Black Ops Cold War throughout Season 4. Hijacked and Echelon could both return as 6v6 maps alongside another original locale.
Then, Dune would be added as a 12v12 map alongside a new, smaller 2v2 Gunfight map. A Zoo-based map is expected to be the new multi-team map for Season 4. This will first arrive in Outbreak at the start of the season (similar to how Duga was added in Season 3) and then get added to Fireteam modes later.
Of course, this is all speculation at this point but it all seems plausible. There have been leaked images of a Zoo-based map and Hijacked is one of the most highly requested maps by players.
New Round-Based Zombies Map
Speaking of maps, we already know that we're getting a new round-based Call of Duty Zombies map in Season 4's midseason update.
This was confirmed by the development team a little while ago but we don't know for sure what it's going to be. There are rumours that it's going to be Ural Mountains-based, following on from Firebase Z's main questline, but this also seems to be a line that relates to Black Ops Cold War's Outbreak mode.
At this stage, Call of Duty Zombies could really take us anywhere. They are pitching the Dark Aether's threat as a global one and so far, Weaver has sent Requiem on a bit of a trek. There are rumours that the next Zombies map is going to incorporate aspects of Buried, in a similar way to how Nacht der Untoten was incorporated into Die Maschine, but these are unconfirmed.
Expect A Few More Weapons
On top of all this, we're fully expecting there to be quite a few new weapons added to Black Ops Cold War in Season 4. We're also still waiting for the AMP63 at the time of writing...
Each season, Treyarch throws at least four new killing tools at us and it seems only right that they would continue this trend going forwards.
At the moment, Black Ops Cold War's Light Machine Gun weapon category is the only weapon category that hasn't seen a post-launch weapon added in a seasonal update. This doesn't mean we're going to be seeing a new LMG, but in the effort of balancing things out, we probably should.
In addition to this, we are anticipating another Shotgun to be added to Call of Duty at some point given the fact that there's only three of them.
