It's clear from the reveal that DICE are incredibly proud of and excited about Battlefield Portal. It is the brand new sandbox game mode that combines maps and content from previous Battlefield games and allows players to build their own online multiplayer matches.
We're going to focus on the selection of available maps in Battlefield Portal here and run through what new and classic maps are coming to the heavily anticipated game mode.
Battlefield Portal Classic Maps
Battlefield Portal has confirmed six classic maps will be returning for the mode and available at launch are;
- Battle of the Bulge - Battlefield 1942
- El Alamein - Battlefield 1942
- Arica Harbor - Battlefield: Bad Company 2
- Valparaiso - Battlefield: Bad Compnay 2
- Caspian Border - Battlefield 3
- Norshahr Canals - Battlefield 3
It's clear that a lot of thought has gone into the maps that have been chosen to return for Battlefield Portal as these are all fan favourites. It remains to be seen if more maps will be added prior to launch, but it's almost a guarantee that more will be added post-release.
The maps selected have also been limited to three previous games so far, so it's possible that popular maps from other games in the series could make a return.
Battlefield Portal Modern Maps
The remainder of the Battlefield Portal maps is the seven maps that will be included with Battlefield 2042 from launch. They are;
- Orbital
- Hourglass
- Kaleidoscope
- Maifest
- Discarded
- Breakaway
- Renewal
All of the Battlefield 2042 maps are quite large in scope based on initial viewings, and the same applies to the classic maps that have been selected for Battlefield Portal.
As we get closer to the release of Battlefield 2042 we expect we will learn a lot more about Battlefield Portal and just how insane creations can get. In the meantime, we'll keep you up to date with any updates on map inclusions right here.
