Battlefield 2042: How to Show FPS Count

EA DICE's new Battlefield game is going to be a demanding experience for any piece of hardware - there's going to be up to 128 players in every game on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC for one. If you want to really know how well your equipment is handling that, you might want to know if you can show your FPS count while playing Battlefield 2042.

Well... Here's everything you need to know about how you can do that.

How to show your FPS count in Battlefield 2042

At the moment, you can only show your FPS count on the PC version of Battlefield 2042.

If you're still interested, you'll need to follow these steps if you're playing Battlefield 2042 on Origin...

  • Start Battlefield 2042 and enter the Command Box
    • To access this, you will need to hit the ~ key - this is SHIFT + # on UK Keyboards
  • From here, you will need to enter the following text: perfoverlay.drawfps 1
    • This is going to add an FPS counter to the top of your screen that should stay there until you stop playing

If you're playing on Steam, you'll have to follow these steps...

  • Start Battlefield and open the Steam Overlay menu
    • To access this, you will need to hit SHIFT + TAB to open it
  • Scroll down the Shift Overlay until you find the "In-Game" tab
    • Here, you should then find an option to toggle the FPS count on Battlefield 2042

Knowing what your current FPS count is can be handy in knowing if you need to tweak any settings while playing on the PC version of Battlefield 2042. We don't think this will be added to consoles, but it's worth keeping an eye out. Unlike Battlefield 2042 on PC, console versions of the game will be locked to 60fps maximum.
