We now know that the upcoming title will be set in the Viking-era game, so gamers can expect to see a lot of raids, boats and blood.

But we also know that the game will feature some RPG elements too, making it more of a customised experience than we've seen in previous titles.

On top of this, we've heard that players will be able to join friends in raids with their very own mercenary!

Customize Your Character

There's always been pre-determined main characters in the Assassin's Creed series, and Valhalla is no different.

TWEAKING: Gamers will be able to customize their character all the way down to their gender

However, as in OdysseyValhalla will give players some form of control over the character you play with.

According to Ubisoft, players can customize their character’s hair, give them tattoos and war paint, and equip them with gear that will change their appearance for the final touch.

This is a similar level of customization that we will see in Cyberpunk 2077 when it lands on consoles in September.

Is there Multiplayer?

One of the other features confirmed on the official Ubisoft website is the ability to create your own ‘custom raider’.

GANG: Your raider can be used by friends, and in return, you'll get a share of the riches

The game will not have a traditional multiplayer, but it will let you customize and share a Viking mercenary for friends to hire for raids.

Players will be able to to “reap the spoils” when their raider fights alongside their friends.

Your raider will be controlled by AI, but they should help make raiding easier and may even bring home some spoils.

This could be the closest that Assassin’s Creed has come to multiplayer in years.

Will there be Crossplay?

We already seen some cross-gen rumours pop up earlier in 2020, but other than that, there has been very little said about cross-platform play.

COMPATIBILITY: The Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller will work with the upcoming Xbox!

The ultimate goal would be cross-gen play, as this ensures that Xbox One players will not be isolated by the move to Xbox Series X.

We're unclear on how this feature will be implemented, but one thing is for sure - by the time the game releases, cross-gen and cross-platform play will likely have been nailed for the game.
