After a few weeks of build-up, Genshin Impact Update 1.1, it has finally landed!
Here's what you need to know, as the game arrives on PS5!
A New Star Approaches
The title of Version 1.1 is "A New Star Approaches" offering new characters, weapons, quests, systems, gadgets and a new character archive system.
Release Date
Genshin Impact Update 1.1 launched at on Wednesday, 11 November.
It looks to have done so at around 3am GMT (10pm ET on 10 November).

Here's an overview:
New Characters
The 1.1 Update has added a variety of new characters to unlock and add to your party.
They are:
- Childe - 5-Star Hydro
- Diano - 4-Star Cryo
- Zhongli - 5-Star Geo
- Xinyan - 4-Star
New Weapons
A variety of new weapons will be added to the game in the 1.1 update.
The new weapons will be;
- Memory of Dust - 5-Star Caltalyst
- Vortex Vanquisher - 5-Star Polearm
- The Unforged - 5-Star Claymore
- Royal Spear - 4-Star Polearm
New Quests
There will be a bunch of new quests added to the game, here is a lsit of them from the patch notes:
1. New Archon Quest
The mysterious emissary Ganyu appears before you at Third-Round Knockout.
Claiming to have come at Ningguang's behest, she invites you to the skyfaring palace known as the Jade Chamber.
To that end, you and Paimon have come to Mt. Tianheng, from where you can see the Jade Chamber in the distance...
After the Version 1.1 Update, the Archon Quest Chapter 1: Act III - A New Star Approaches will become available.
Complete this quest chain and obtain Primogems, Weapon Enhancement Materials, Character EXP Materials, and other rewards!
2. New Story Quests
The Millelith have received numerous eyewitness reports recently that have confirmed an active Ruin Guard presence in an area far beyond their normal range of activity.
After some investigation, you find that these Ruin Guards are, in fact, just toys for a certain child...
After the Version 1.1 Update, the Story Quest Monoceros Caeli Chapter: Act I - Mighty Cyclops' Adventure! will become available.
Complete this quest chain and obtain Primogems, Weapon Enhancement Materials, Character EXP Materials, and other rewards!
The Story Quest Historia Antiqua Chapter: Act I - Sal Flore will also become available at a later date.
3. New World Quests
New World Quests Added: The Adventurers' Guild's Affairs, Necessary Procedures, Words Worth Their Weight in Mora, Changchang's Little Friend, The Secret of Nantianmen, An Ode to Yonder City, and Endless Research
Complete these quests and obtain Mora, Character EXP Materials, and other rewards!
New Systems
1. City Reputation System
Reach Adventure Rank 25 and complete the corresponding quests to unlock this system
Reputation is currently divided into Mondstadt Reputation and Liyue Reputation.
Travelers can speak to Knights of Favonius Coordinator, Hertha and Ministry of Civil Affairs Secretary, Ms. Yu to take on new Bounties and Requests.
You can also collect Reputation EXP rewards from them for World Exploration, Mondstadt Quests, and Liyue Quests.
As you increase your Reputation Level, you will unlock special city features, recipes, gadget blueprints, namecards, wind gliders, and other rewards.
2. Exploration Progress System
Zoom out on the map to view the Exploration Progress for each area.
Open chests, find Elemental Oculi, unlock Waypoints, and complete other exploration activities to increase your Exploration Progress in each area.
3. Archive System
A collection of Equipment, Materials, Geography, Books and Tutorials.

New Items
There will be many new items added to the game with the next update.
New items include:
- Portable Waypoint
- Portable Stone
- Treasure Compass
- Oculus Resonance Stones
- Wind Catcher
The Oculus Resonance Stones will mark nearby Anemoculi and Geoculi.
While the Wind Catcher stores Anamograna to create wind currents, allowing for further exploration options.

New Events
A new event called "Unreconciled Stars" will run from November 16th to November 30th.
During the event, complete designated quests and "Star of Destiny" challenges to obtain Fading Star's Might and Fading Star's Essence.
Players can exchange Fading Star's Might and Fading Star's Essence in the Event Shop for Character Ascension Materials, Hero's Wit, Mystic Enhancement Ore, Talent Enhancement Materials, Crown of Insight, and other rewards!
Complete "Prinzessin's Pact" to get "Prinzessin der Verurteilung!" Fischl (Electro).
Other Changes and Fixes
- Anemoculus Sync Stone, Geoculus Sync Stone.
- Geo and Anemo Finder Compass.
- Wind capturing bottle.
- Pocket Teleport Anchor.
- Type 30 Portable Nutrient Bag.
- New Dungeon called Golden House.
- Reputation.
Leaks
The update is expected to bring a lot of new changes to the game, but as of yet they're unconfirmed and are just leaks.

- An ultra graphic setting for 60 fps play on Android added
- New Event Reward Character: 神里绫华 (English name unknown). Obtainable at AR42 after completing main story quests in Liyue city.
- Fixed a bug with Traveller's geo skill
- Fixed a texture error
Platforms
Genshin Impact is currently available on PC, Playstation 4, iOS, and Android.
The 1.1 update will add support for the upcoming Playstation 5, which will release on November 12th or 19th depending on the country.
A Nintendo Switch version is planned but ended up being delayed until 2021.
There is currently no plans for an Xbox port.
Playstation 5
The Genshin Impact 1.1 update will add compatibility for the upcoming Playstation 5 console.
Genshin Impact will continue to run using the PS4 version of the game, this is to make it easier to release rather than having to create a separate build for the new console.
On launch day, November 12th-19th depending on region, players will be able to download and jump into Genshin Impact on their brand new system.
miHoYo have confirmed that the PS5 version will offer better graphics and faster loading times.
Nintendo Switch
A Nintendo Switch port of the game was expected to launch in September when Genshin Impact came out of beta.
Unfortunately this version was delayed and so far there has been no official release date set.

It is expected to be announced some time after the Genshin Impact 1.1 update with the beta beginning in early 2021 and a expected full release in mid-late 2021.
Xbox One/Series X|S
Genshin Impact is expected to launch on the Nintendo Switch, it was always mentioned up until the port was delayed, but there has never been any mention of it coming to the Xbox One or Series X|S.
While speaking to Twinfinite, developers miHoYo stated they have no plans to bring the game to the Xbox platform.
"We have plans regarding next-gen consoles, and we will be announcing them as these plans take shape. We do not currently have plans to release the game on Xbox."
It is unclear why they chose not to release it on the system.
Free to play games thrive on any platform they are released on, the more platforms the better.
At least for now a Xbox port is not happening, but never say never.
